تدور قصة الفيلم في عالم المخلوقات الخيالية بعد الجزء الأول سنة 2016 حيث ستستمر الأحداث مع مغامرات المتخصص في دراسة هذه المخلوقات "نيوت سكامندر"، والذي سيحاول هذه المرة منع الشرير "غليرت غريندوالد"، من بطولة جوني ديب، من إطلاق هذه المخلوقات السحرية المتوحشة للسيطرة على عالم البشر. الفيلم هو من بطولة كل من إيدي ريدماين، جوني ديب، كاثرين واترستن، إزرا ميلر، جاد لاو والعديد... وهو من إخراج ديفيد ياتس الذي كان وراء إخراج العديد من أفلام هاري بوتر، وسيناريو من كتابة جي كي رولينغ صاحبة روايات هاري بوتر.
